Heather Boynton

 

Dr. Boynton is an emergency physician and writer who lives in San Diego, California. 
 
She grew up in New England, graduated from Princeton University and worked for a number of years in foreign policy and international security. Past employers include the U.S. Department of State, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and Stanford University. 
 
While at Stanford, Dr. Boynton worked alongside a number of physicians as well as political scientists at an interdisciplinary international institute. She began volunteering as a lay health care provider at the Berkeley Free Clinic, counseling patients on sexual health and helping to run a decades-old health care collective.

Dr. Boynton went on to study medicine at Georgetown University and trained in emergency medicine at the University of California, San Diego, where she served as Chief Resident. She was an international health fellow in Peru and has volunteered with NGOs in Uganda, Mexico and Greece. 

For the last seven years Dr. Boynton has been practicing in a rural, cross-border community in Imperial Valley, California.
